The Regions Most Trusted Solar Provider
A Watters solar system is a smart and valuable investment for your home. It will generate clean, free solar electricity to power your household and can also increase the resale value of your home. A mid-sized solar system generates around 70% of the electricity required for an average home in Albury, Wodonga, Wangaratta and Shepparton.
A properly designed solar system will drastically reduce the amount of electricity you need to buy from your existing energy retailer and replaces it with free energy you have generated yourself from the sun shining on your roof. It’s a straightforward, energy-efficient and very clever system.
Common Solar Power Questions
In all honesty, an in-home appointment is usually a tactic most solar companies will use as an excuse to pressure sell a solar system on the spot. Meter data and placement of panels can be done remotely as satellite imagery systems like Nearmap have very accurate data. We won’t pressure you into letting us come our and inspect the property, however if you are comfortable it does help us understand what solution might work better for you. A friendly Watters solar specialist can also walk you though how your system will be placed and installed.
A rainy day isn’t all bad, in Albury, Shepparton and Wangaratta regions it’s not uncommon to have dust blowing around in the wind. The rain helps clean the bulk of dust and dirt off your solar panels. After a few years your solar panels may need a proper clean to help them produce at their peak. Even if you don’t need the excess energy, this will simply sent back into the energy grid and most energy retailers or state government have incentives in place to pay you for that energy sent back into the grid. And rest insured whenever solar energy is low, your existing street supply is always available to seamlessly supply you.
Take control of your power bill and improve the value of your family home with a Watters solar system. Solar power makes the sun work for you.
The solar panels collect solar radiation from the sun and convert that energy into electricity, this is known as the photovoltaic effect and inverter then converts the solar electricity to regular AC household power. Which is then sent to your existing meter box. And becomes available to run your existing appliances it’s an easy transition to obtaining your own free and clean power supply.
All your appliances will work the same meaning you can instantly start saving on your power bill without having to compromise on comfort. The suns path is higher in summer which makes it better for producing solar power, this is perfect for running pool pumps or air conditioning which consume many kilowatt hours during the day. Equally your Watters solar system will produce more electricity on a sunny day than when it’s cloudy, neighbouring trees and building that cast shadows over the panels will also influence the amount of electricity produced by each solar panel.
Installing a solar power system without a battery
When you install solar panels onto the roof of your home or business they will produce electricity that is fed directly into your premises, when the sun is shining. Any excess electricity produced by your solar panels (that is, electricity leftover after all your devices have been powered) is fed directly back into the national power grid. You will receive a credit for this electricity, known as feed-in, from your supplier.
Installing a solar battery
As above, except that now your solar power system will also be able to store excess electricity in a solar battery system, which will be used to power your home once the sun goes down. Once your battery is fully charged, any excess electricity will still be fed into the grid, so you can receive credits from your supplier. If you use all the electricity in your battery, don’t worry, your electricity supply will be automatically switched over to the national grid.
In both cases all of these events happen automatically – you don’t have to do a thing! Your premises is still connected to the grid and automatically draws electricity from it at any time to supplement your solar power production.
Solar power is a renewable source of energy that reduces our reliance on coal-powered electricity. Not only that, you can save thousands of dollars annually off your electricity bill. While there are costs involved to install a solar power system, these costs will be recouped as the panels reduce or even eliminate your electricity bills. In fact, most systems pay for themselves within four years, and with the constant rise in electricity prices they are an excellent solution to saving money. In our experience a solar power system will provide an ongoing return on investment of between 20-40%.
Savings to your bills can vary between customers depending on their location, electricity use patterns and other factors. Using the Clean Energy Council’s system performance estimator, Watters can determine in advance of installation what the optimum system for your needs will produce in energy throughout the year. We can then translate that into expected savings for you with a Pay Back between two and four years.
As a minimum, any homeowner should consider a minimum 5kw system. Many years ago, when solar systems had a higher cost, system sizes ranged between 1.5 – 3kw. As manufacturing costs have reduced, larger systems are more affordable. However, the solar feed-in that energy retailers will pay you has also decreased. A 5kw or larger system will provide a better return on investment.
From here, the system size is based on your energy demands and available roof space. There is also a solar pre-approval application to be completed before the optimal size is determined. Our team will explain all off the options during the initial consultation and answer any questions you may have.
