Furphy's Foundry Solar

Furphy’s Foundry and Watters Electrical teamed up to achieve an energy efficiency program to suit their business, which gained them access to a government grant.
The project consisted of Turing the original gas furnace and converting it to an electric Furnace.
We achieved this by doing a new factory switchboard upgrade and running new cables to the electric furnace. During the switchboard upgrade, Watters Electrical installed 116.92kW of pv solar on the Furphy’s foundry roof across the 4 sites.
The solar is to offset the upgrade of the electric furnace and achieve an energy efficient solution.
